Been to this place twice in the last month - testimony to the yum factor in this relatively underrated Malaysian eatery.
Honestly, the interior needs a bit of a renovation but the regulars don’t seem to mind the cracked glass fountain in the front or the plants with the fairy lights from last Christmas still hanging off them.
Overall a good varied menu and the food generally excellent in flavor, taste and authenticity.
Liked:
1. Lots of variety and choice on their menu.
2. Enjoyed the chicken rice, wat tan hor and the fried kway teow.
Chicken rice does not come with the thick caramel style black sauce the way it’s served in Singapore but its equally good as the chicken has a bit of sauce which you can spoon over rice.
The wat tan hor was one of the best I’ve tasted so far in Auckland.
Chat kway teow had Chinese sausage which was surprising as lots of places don’t seem to add that ingredient.
3. Will come back to order their Kang Kong or morning glory and to try their Laksa and Yu bin mai fun or milky fish soup which looked like a generous portion and we saw lots of people ordering that at lunch time.
Big portions and super tasty. Great value during lunch hour - recommend to come as a group so you can try it all!
Came here late around 8pm on a weekday. Which is great, as I remember coming here a long time ago and it was always packed and rushed.
Food is still good, I would say one of the better Malaysian restaurant around! Service is average as usual, was seated and asked literally less a min after the menu was delivered if we were ready to order (same same asian style service).
Food cam out fast, and the portions are huge so get a few mates if you want to try out their extensive range of food!
Only down side about my meal was the fried rice noodle was a bit blend and dry.
Would visit again if I am around, but not a place I would drive out of my way to eat!
